DACA
2/26/18
What is DACA?
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA, is an American immigration policy that allows individuals who entered the country as minors, and had either entered or remained in the country illegally. DACA members would receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and to be eligible for a work permit.
How is DACA different from the DREAM Act?
The DREAM Act is a bipartisan bill, first proposed in 2001. Individuals are usually called "DREAMers." The DREAM act allows for individuals to work towards citizenship in the US while DACA does not.
Who administered the policy?
The policy was administered by the Obama Administration in June of 2012.
How many are involved in the program?
As of 2017 approximately 80,000 individuals are involved and benefit from the program.
What is happening to DACA now?
AS of September of 2017 the Trump Administration made it a goal to phase out the program. Today, February 26, 2018, the Supreme Court has set off to review DACA for both renewal or termination. Which plays in favor of the individuals involved in the program because they can continue fighting to stay in the country and support the program. The high court says that an appeals court should hear the case first. No bipartisan has been made between Congress and the White House.

Dia de Los Reyes
1/6/18
On Dia de Los Reyes, or Three King’s Day, it is the day to celebrate the arrival of the three wise men to baby Jesus. Brining golds and treats to the newborn in celebration of his birth. It is a Hispanic & Latin custom to have a Rosca de Reyes, or Wreath of Kings, as a desert on this holiday. Whoever finds the plastic baby in their piece then is chosen to host a party with tamales. Children also often leave their shoes out on their doorstep for the three wise men to leave them gifts as well. Have a happy and safe Dia de Los Reyes.
